YETI’s NEW LoadOut Phone Case: Military-grade Protection for Your iPhone

It was only a matter of time until YETI entered the world of phone cases, and here we are. YETI’s LoadOut Phone Case has just dropped, and no, it’s not just an ordinary case. It’s loaded with features that have piqued my interest.

Military-grade Drop Protection

Because features don’t matter if your phone is in pieces! The LoadOut Phone Case is built to a MIL-STD-810H standard – and since that’s a term you’ll see on a lot of rugged gear, here’s what it actually means in simple terms: it’s a U.S. military testing standard, with drops starting at a minimum of four feet. One thing worth knowing (true of any brand that uses it, not just YETI): companies run this testing themselves, so think of the label as a solid “built to take real abuse” rather than a guaranteed magic number. In this case: YETI designed this case to survive the kind of drops that end most phones.

If that wasn’t enough, YETI added extra cushioning – what they call TripleShotProtection – in the areas most prone to damage. The YETI phone case also features raised rubber bezels around the camera lenses, guarding against drops and abrasions that scratch up lenses and crack glass.

Hands-Free Use

Hands down, this has to be my favourite feature – the MagSafe compatible rotating kickstand! It has so many uses – from little hands tired of holding a phone while watching a movie on a rainy camping trip to the angler recording proof of their massive catch. Not that we don’t believe them! 😉

Another bonus: the YETI LoadOut Phone Case features tie-down slots. Out hiking, tether your phone to your wrist for quick snapshots or attach it to a lanyard to keep it from falling out of shallow pockets.

Wet or Sweaty Hands

No longer a problem. The YETI Phone Case features non-slip edges for those moments when you forget to dry your hands, which happens a lot outdoors. The side buttons are ultra-responsive and don’t discriminate against cold or icky fingers.

Match Your Style

The YETI LoadOut Phone Case is available in 11 colours, 4 of which are clear with coloured edging. Personally, my favourite is my King Crab Orange and Celestial Blue, but I know quite a few hunters who would love the Olive/King Crab combo – might make a great stocking stuffer (just saying). I’m sure in due course, YETI will find a way to customize these phone cases – it’s just a matter of time.

Availability & Price

Now for the not so good news: the YETI LoadOut Phone Case is only available to owners of an iPhone 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, 18 Pro, and 18 Pro Max. Any iPhone older than the 17 will not fit. If you have an Android, you’re out of luck too.

As for cost, the case is priced at $70 USD ($80 CND). And it comes with a 5-year warranty. Now all you have to do is hold on to your phone for that long. 🙂

Our Take

If you’re hard on your phone outdoors and own a compatible model, then it’s worth it; otherwise, skip it if you baby your phone or don’t own a 17/18 Pro.
