My only compliant is that the FXR F.A.S.T. snowmobile suits are heavy! I understand why, as the built-in tech is there to keep you safe, warm and floating, but still, it’s heavy and thick. Some styles are restrictive in movement – making you look like a waddling penguin. Other than that, the quality is definitely there, and I love that there are different styles to choose from and colours. At the time, the Adrenaline for adults, was the nicest and most expensive line, as it was one of two featuring the flotation tech. For kids, there was only one option.

Now, FXR fast flotation comes in two-piece snowmobile suits and monosuits (one-piece snow suit). Each type of suit has a multitude of colour options and features. Higher-priced FXR snowmobile suits feature an Omni-Stretch shell with YKK AquaGuard zippers and F.A.S.T. 3.0 insulation. They also have a higher A.C.M.T. (Advanced Climate Management Technology) value. All suits feature a HydrxPro laminate and a 3-year warranty, which basically means, it’s a waterproof F.A.S.T. snowmobile suit.

F.A.S.T. snowmobile suits are expensive, but the good news is that it’s not something that needs to be updated constantly. Our neighbours have had their flotation suits for what seems like forever. And they still work, even in the harshest winter conditions!!! So, yes, the initial financial outlay may be a lot to some, but the peace of mind that comes with it is priceless. What Other Brands Make Flotation Suits

1. Mustang Survival Classic Flotation Suit is a monosuit that caters to all water activities and offers cold weather protection. We have friends who have owned theirs for many, many years and have not had any problems with it. The only downside is that it only comes in high vis orange.
2. Pro Max Flotation Suits is newer to the market and was a brand created by Royal Distributing. It’s a cheaper flotation suit that was designed to compete with FXR. I don’t know anyone that owns one, so I can’t comment on quality.
3. Klim is another well-known brand that makes highly durable, waterproof snowmobile jackets. Unfortunately, they do not have many options, nor are there any pants to go with the jacket. Reminder: Flotation in the legs is crucial.

F.A.S.T. Suits vs Other Snowmobile Suits

Brands like Mustang and Kilm do not have much to choose from. Pro Max is the only other brand that gives you some more options in snowmobile flotation suits. Personally, I find ProMax falls short in terms of the technology used and some of its features, but they are a more affordable snowmobile suit.

These suits offer maximum comfort and warmth. As a result, our children practically live in their snowmobiling monosuits all winter. This again helps justify the cost.

Something worth noting is when your child outgrows their snowsuit, the resale value of an FXR is excellent! If budget is an issue, try looking online for a used FAST snowmobile suit. Most often you can find a suit in almost brand new condition on Kijiji or Facebook Market Place. 

My kids, when they were little, loved their FXR Fast monosuits. These breathable F.A.S.T. snowmobile suits were no fuss, warm and comfortable. They never complained about the cold, even when temperatures were well into their -30’s C.

Being a one piece suit, there were no complaints of their backs being cold or that there was snow getting into their gear.
